When I surf the Wikipedia for some information about anime, I stumbled across an otaku term called Moe Anthropomorphism. Basically it is about making an anime character for an inanimate object, as a personification for the inanimate object. One of such example are Wikipe-tan which is one of the maskot for Wikipedia.
Wikipe-tan appear in several Wikipedia entries describing several otaku related fashions, such as :
1. Miko ( Japanese priestess )
2. Sailor fuku ( a kind of Japanese school uniform )
3. Gothic Lolita
4. Nekomimi (Cat's eared girl).
You can find more picture of Wikipe-tan in :
Kasuga's Deviant Art Gallery
Another example of Moe Anthropomorphism is OS-tan, which describe different kind of Computer Operating System as anime characters. The drawings usually symbolize the characteristic of the Operating System itself.
